Monopoly until I was in high school (and to this day I’ve still never played Candyland). Back then, I assumed games were either based on pure chance or required months of commitment like Dungeons & Dragons.

It wasn’t until after college that, one fateful evening, we decided to attend a “board game night” at the Games of Berkeley. This was my first introduction to Euro-style board games. These games were complex with a mixture of luck and strategy.
